Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University is a unitary, state University located at Lonere in Raigad district, Maharashtra, India. Established in 1989 under the 'Government of Maharashtra Act 1983', the University is affiliated to the University Grants Commission (India). It is the only technological university in maharashtra.
The University campus covers an area of 500 acres (2,000,000 m2), and is located at the college town of Lonere, off NH-17 (Mumbai-Goa National Highway). It is approximately 25 km north of Mahad city and 10 km south of Mangaon tehsil, and about 22 ms away from the renowned Raigad fort of the Maratha king Shivaji. The University is in the vicinity of industrial belt comprising Thane, Belapur, Nagothane, Patalganga, Roha, Mahad, Lote Parshuram,etc.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University is unitary in character, and features undergraduate and postgraduate programs in core engineering disciplines. It offers four-year undergraduate programs that lead to the awarding of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) degree in the disciplines of Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Information Technology, Mechanical and Petrochemical engineering. It also offers two-year postgraduate programs that lead to the awarding of Master of Technology (M. Tech.) degree in the disciplines of Chemical, Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication, Environmental, Manufacturing and Thermal and Fluids engineering.

Admissions to under-graduate courses are done according to the State Government rules and regulations(MHT-CET). Admissions to post graduate courses and doctoral degrees are based on G.A.T.E. percentile, departmental entrance examination followed by interview, and merit of the candidate.
The University has a conducted institute of its own, "Institute of Petrochemical Engineering", running Diploma Courses in eight streams of engineering and technology i.e. Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Plastic & Polymer Engineering. The University extends its services to the society through a governmental scheme of "Community Polytechnic" by educating the dropouts and empowering them with technical skills. The University offers education especially to rural women through a Certificate Course in Nursing Technology. It also provides with 1 year diploma course in Water Quality Management.
The students organize following major events/activities regularly :

Companies and organizations like Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Siemens, ONGC, Indian Navy have recruited graduates in last few years.
The Government of Maharashtra acquired most of land required for campus from local farmers in lieu of cash and a job at university. Issues have been raised by some potential beneficiary of families for non-grant of jobs as promised earlier leading to agitation and hunger strike. Is in talks with the maharashtra government to make it as a centralised university of maharashtra.
